Welcome to Folio. By downloading, installing, or using the Folio application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Folio ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the App, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You retain full ownership of all content you import into or create within the App, including books, highlights, notes, and annotations. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to access and use any books or documents you import into the App. We do not host, distribute, or provide copyrighted content.
The App provides access to free public domain books through Project Gutenberg's catalog. These books are in the public domain in the United States. You are responsible for verifying the copyright status of any book in your jurisdiction before downloading.
Folio offers a premium upgrade ("Folio Plus") available as a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase for $4.99 USD (or equivalent in your local currency). This purchase grants you lifetime access to all premium features, including:
All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Refund requests must be made through Apple in accordance with their refund policy.
All your data — including books, highlights, notes, and reading statistics — is stored locally on your device. We do not upload, transmit, or store your personal reading data on external servers. You are responsible for backing up your device to prevent data loss.
The App, including its design, code, graphics, Ollie character, and all related intellectual property, is owned by Folio and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the App is at your sole risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Folio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted within the App or on our website with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App if you violate these Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
